Larry Cherubino is one of Australia’s most acclaimed winemakers, with extensive experience in large and small wineries in Australia and major overseas wine producing regions, and around 300 wine show medals attached to his extensive CV.

He is renowned for his passionate commitment to maximising wine quality in both vineyard and winery, his state of the art technical knowledge and for having a highly developed understanding of modern wine styles. A graduate of Roseworthy College, Larry had a distinguished career with BRL Hardy at Tintara in South Australia and then at Houghton in Western Australia, where his wines won hundreds of awards in the highly competitive Australian and International wine show system.

A few years ago Larry and his partner Edwina started their own range of wines based on Western Australian vineyards, under the Ad Hoc, The Yard and Cherubino labels. Larry also operates a winemaking consulting business, working with wineries in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

'Larry Cherubino played a very significant role in the 2005 vintage for us where he was my senior winemaker with specific responsibility for Gimblett Gravels red wines and Chardonnay. Our ambitious program required someone to recognise our "house style" and fine-tune it to reflect wines with more class and refined texture without losing what is a very identifiable and respected character we have already achieved in wines from previous vintages. In the potentially superb, but very tricky, 2005 vintage Larry Cherubino played a most influential hand, with great sensitivity and skill, and was the perfect partner for me in our decision making at vintage and during assemblage. The result is simply the best Gimblett Gravels red wines we have made.'

Steve Smith MW, Managing Director, Craggy Range Vineyards Ltd.

'Larry possesses a unique combination of intensity, incredible winemaking knowledge, tenacity, and a dry sense of humor. He did a magnificent job of leading our winemaking in 2005 and with a precision micro-picking approach, helped us achieve optimal ripeness from the fruit from on our 50 acre organically farmed vineyard. The resultant wines are fantastic.'
